Ilan Katin est un artiste spécialisé dans le dessin, les performances vidéo live et l’animation. Ses travaux ont été édités dans plusieurs publications sur papier et en ligne. Ses performances vidéo l’ont amené à collaborer avec de nombreux artistes dans différents lieux aux Etats-Unis et en Europe.
DECREPTICON 0001 est une installation-performance qui se déroulera durant toute une journée, le 2 mai de 11h00 à 22h00, dans la salle de théâtre/lecture du BAC. Le but de cette installation-performance est d’expérimenter différents concepts (non) alternatifs de communication. C’est également une expression extrême du rôle de VJ en tant que performer silencieux.
DECREPTICON 0001 est une forme de vie élaborée à base de carbone qui communique (en quelque sorte) avec le public en dessinant ce qu’une personne, présente dans l’assistance/l’espace, lui commande de dessiner (ou pas) avec un ordinateur, une tablette graphique et un projecteur. Ça ne peut fonctionner correctement qu’avec une personne à la fois. Ça ne comprend que l’anglais, ou tout autre forme de langage gestuel universelle. Si vous désirez apprendre une autre langue à Ça, vous êtes cordialement invité à le faire durant vos loisirs. Si vous n’interagissez pas avec Ça, Ça tentera de communiquer avec vous via des dessins. DECREPTICON 0001 sera accompagné des sons amplifiés des bruits du crayon optique sur la tablette graphique.
Sous le pseudonyme DECREPTICON, Ilan Katin exécutera également un VJ-set au Zoo le 4 mai. Il utilisera à cette occasion le matériel DECREPTICON amassé durant ses performances.
Ilan Katin is an artist specializing in drawings, live video performance and animation. His art work has been published in a variety of print and online publications. His video performances include numerous collaborations and locations in the United Sates and Europe. Most notably are his participation with media-art band LANCE BLISTERS and live drawing collaborations with Shelley Hirsch, o.blaat and numerous others.
About DECREPTICON
DECREPTICON is a performance/installation and will take place for one
day from 11:00 till 22:00 on May 2nd in the theater/lecture hall at the
Bac. The purpose of this performance/installation is to experiment with
concepts of (non) alternative means of communication. It is also an extreme
expression of the role of a VJ as a silent performer.
DECREPTICON is a sophisticated carbon based life form that (sort of) communicates with the audience by drawing whatever one person in the audience/space directs it to draw (or not) using a computer, drawing tablet and projection. It can only effectively do this with one person at a time and it only understands English or any other gestures that may be universal. If you wish to teach it a language please do so at your own leisure. If you do not interact with it it will attempt to communicate with you via drawing. DECREPTICON 0001 will be accompanied by an amplified sound of the tapping of it's pen on the computer drawing tablet.
Ilan Katin will also do a VJ set as DECREPTICON at the LeZoo on the night of May 4th using DECREPTICON related materials.
